Sum of the present age of father and daughter is 42.after 7 years later the age of the father is 3 times the daughter.the present age of the father?

• Let the present ages of father and daughter be x and y respectively.
  Then according to given conditions
  x+y=42.......1)
  x+7=3(y+7)
  x-3y=14......2)
  By solving 1) and 2) equations
  We get y=7
  Then x=35
  The present age of father is 35 years.

  f+d=42--------(1)

  f-3d=14----------(2)
  on solving equation (1) & (2) we get d=7 and f=35
  thus present age of father will be 35 and of daughter will be 7.
