A number in the form xxyyzz, where x>y>z is divided by 1001. Find the number is the unit place of the quotient.
A.x+y
B.y-1
C.y
D.x+z

- The ANSWER==> B
let, x,y,z equals to 9,8,7 respectively
998877/1001= 987
7=8-1 =y-1
lets take another set of values for x,y,z as 4,3,2
then 443322/1001 = 442
2= 3-1 =y-1
if we put x,y,z equals to 6,4,2 respectively
then again 664422/1001 = 663
3= 4-1 =y-1

- The Best Way To Find Out the Soln, we must solve the above by taking atleast 3 possible combination..
So [* Note R = Remainder and Q = Quotient]
1) 443322/1001 = 442(Q) * 1001 + 880(R) , Thus relation we got y-1 [3-1 = 2]
2) 997755/1001 = 996(Q) * 1001 + 759(R) , Thus relation we got y-1 [7-1 = 6]
3) 995511/1001 = 994(Q) * 1001 + 517(R) , Thus relation we got y-1 [5-1 = 4]
Thus Answer is B) - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(36) No(4)
- ans- c
assume x,y,z equals to 1,2 & 3 respectively.
then divide by 1001.
it gives 2 as the unit digit of quotient - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(25)
- answer should be B:
lets take x=3,y=2,z=1
so the number will be 332211%1001
quotient=321
check for all options
A)X+Y(3+2=5)
this is not the correct answer.
B)y-1(2-1=1)
so our answer will be y-1. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- @Pranoy Bej
As per the question,
its not provided that the numbers x y z are consecutive,
so when i m taking the value as x= 9 y=7 and z=5
the option B or any option is not satisfied.
Please somebody help me with this...

- wrong option.....ans should be 'z'
let x=9, y=8, z=7.....so, x>y>z
so, 998877/1001=997
Ans. z - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(19)
- I am telling that in 10th august exam there are also 'z' in the option

- Z is wrong answer.
plz check for x=5, y=4, z=1
So, 554411/1001=553
y-1=4-1=3
So, y-1 is correct. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- @PRIYANKAR PRAKASH , exactly what i was thinking..it is not given that the no is consecutive so how are people assuming the numbers like 998877 or 443322? it can also be 996655 or 884411.In any of these y-1 is not the answer
- 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- it always equal to y
