  then first julie takes 1/3 of x amount left is=2/3 of x=2/3x
  then alice takes 1/3 of 2/3x, amount left over is 2/3 of 2/3x = 4/9x
  then tina takes 1/3 of 4/9x, amount left is 4/9x*2/3= 8/27x which is given to be 8,
