A mixture of cement, sand ,and gravel in the ratio of 1:2:4 by volume is required . A person wishes to measure out quantities by weight .He finds that the weight of one cubic foot of cement is 94 kg, of sand 100 kg and gravel 110 kg what should be the ratio of all in order to give proper mixture

- Required volume ratio = 1:2:4
given : weight of 1cubic foot of cement=94kg
weight of 1cubic foot of sand=100kg
weight of 1cubic foot of gravel=110kg.
Taking the ratio by volume; cement:sand:gravel=94:100:110
required ratio = 1:2:4
ratio for proper mixture = 94:2*100:4*110
dividing by 2,we get 47:100:220 (answer). - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(21) No(1)
- The ratio of cement, sand ,and gravel is 1:2:4 by volume.
if, we assume the total volume is 1 cubic foot
then, by weight the ratio must be,
=> (1*94):(2*100):(4*110)
=> 47:100:220
Hence, the ratio should be 47:100:220 by weight to give proper mixture of 1:2:4 by volume. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(0)
