- A B C
500 450
500 475
=> When B did 450m C did 475/500*450=427.5m
which means when A did 500m C did 427.5m
=>when A do 400m,C do = 427.5/500*400 =342m
thus 400-342=58 m Ans

- Ans 58m
A beats B in 500m race by 50m
so,for every 10 m race A beat B by 1m..
So,in 400 m race A beat B by 40m
In a case of B & C,
B beats C by 25m in 500m race..
So,B beats C by 1m in 20 m race
Now,in a 400m race B beats C by 18m..
In a 400m race,
A beats B by 40m & B beats C by 18m..
So,A beats C by 58m...

- A:b=10:9
b:c=20:19
a:B:C=200:180:171
thus a:c=200:171
=400:342
hence a beats c by 58m

- I think there is mistake in question.Question should be
"A beats B by 50m in a race of 500m ,THEN B BEATS C BY 25m in a race of 500m.Find the
distance by which A beats C in a race of 400?"
Now Solution given by Vaibhav Jain is Correct - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(1)
- 20m
a=500.b=450,c=475
diff between a,c=25 in 500 m race
so 500m=25
1m=25/500;
400m=25*400/500=20 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
