Hurush wanted to subtract 5 from a number . Unfortunately he added 5 instead of subtracting. Find the percentage change in the result?
1)300 2) 66.66 3)50 4) 33.33

- let the number is x
instead of x-5 hurush done x+5
Change in result= (x+5) - (x -5)=10
% change in result = [10/(x-5)]*100
So, it depends on value of x
you missed one option - cannot be determined - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(46) No(3)
- Answer is 2)66.66%
Let us assume the number to be x.
According to the question:
(x-5) was made as (x+5) by mistake.
Now let us find the difference between the two i.e. (x+5)-(x-5)=10
To take the percentage:
10/(x-5)*100=?
It is quite rightly said in one of the answers that x determines the value of the above expression but since there is no such option in the question, we start assuming the value of x. let us assume x to be 20:
10/(20-5)*100=10/15*100=66.66%. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(13)
- let the number be 10...
then change in result is (10+5)-(10-5)=10
%change= 10*100/15=66.66% - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(8)
- answer is 66.66%

- let the number is=10;
adding 5,we get =15;
so percentage change in the number= (15-10)/10=0.5*100%=50% ans - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(8)

- ans is 33.33% bcoz ...if i take x as 10.. % for x+5=15 by using formulae, diff/actual *100 =5/15*100=33.33%

- let the no be 10.
10-5=5
10+5=15
change=15-5=10;
change in %=(15-5/15)*100=66.66% - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(2)
- let assume the number is 10...
then change in result is (10+5)-(10-5)=10
