9 kg of mangoes cost as much as 45 kg of oranges. 14 kg of oranges cost as much as 1.5 kg of grapes. 2 kg of grapes cost as much as 5 kg of apples. Find the cost of 15 kg of apples, if 2.5 kg of mangoes cost 12.50(in Rs).
Read Solution (Total 2)

- 56 Rs.
9(M)=45(O) =>M=5(O) ---(i)
14(O)=(3/2)(G) =>M=(5/14)(3/2)(G)=15/28(G) ---(ii)
2(G)=5(A) =>M=(15/28)*5/2(A)=75/56(A) ---(iii) or A=(56/75)M
Cost of Mango/Kg=12.5/2.5=5 Rs.
So cost of 15 Kg. Apples= 15*(56/75)*5= 56 Rs. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(6) No(0)
- m:o=9:45
o:g=14:1.5
g:a=2:5
All the four are in the ratio- m:o:g:a=126:630:67.5:168.75
Now 168.75a is equivalent to 126m. Thus, 15a is equivalent to 11.2m. Now 2.5m has price 12.50 then 11.2m(or 15a) has price 56.00(in Rs).
