Complex Numbers
A card board of size 34*14 has to be attached to a wooden box and a total of 35 pins are to
be used on the each side of the card box. find the total number of pins used.
Read Solution (Total 9)
-
- total 35 pins are there and 4 sides of card board...so 35X4=140
now in the rectangle 4 vertices have 4 pins which is common to the sides....so 140-4=136 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(50) No(1)
- the question is a bit tricky with the language of it.first when we are reading it we think of a wooden box (which is having six faces) is to be covered with the given dimension of the card board. but it is not like that, the catch is that we should consider that a wooden box is there with open face. now we need to give it a cover with the help of the cardboard.(same as covering the bottle with a cap).
now the solution.
to cover the box we need to have a square face shape.each side is having 35 pins as mentioned. therefore 35*4= 140.as it is a square, but four pins at the corner are common .therefore 140-4=136.thus answer is 136.
hope it is helpful.
