There is a 4 inch cube painted on all sides. This is cut into no of 1 inch cubes. What is the no of cubes which have no painted sides.
Read Solution (Total 9)
-
- 8 cubes.
The original cube is cut into 64 pieces. Removing all cubes from any two opposite pairs of faces leaves total 32 cubes, as one face contains 16 cubes each. It can be seen that in the remaining two layers, only four each from each layer have no sides painted. So total = 2*4=8 cubes. - 15 years agoHelpfull: Yes(17) No(7)
- no painted cube formula=(n-2)^3
since it is 4X4 cube so n=4;(4-2)^3=2^3=8 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(8) No(1)
- total no of cubes = 64 cubes
3 Face painted = 8 cubes
2 Face painted = 24 cubes
1 Face painted = 24 cubes
So, NO Face painted will be = [64-(8+24+24)] = 8 cubes - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(7) No(0)
