Time and Work
Rajiv can do a piece of work in 10 days , Venky in 12 days and Ravi in 15 days. They all start the work together, but Rajiv leaves after 2 days and Venky leaves 3 days before the work is completed. In how many days is the work completed ?
a. 5
b. 6
c. 9
d. 7
Read Solution (Total 11)

- ans: 7
let days b x
rajiv =1/10(worked for 2days), venky 1/12 (worked for x-3 days) ,ravi 1/15(worked for x days)
so in the form of equation we can write
2/10+(x-3)/12+x/15=1
or
LCM is 60
12+5x-15+4x=60
9x=63
x=7 ans - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(91) No(2)
- Rajiv’s work in 1 day=1/10
Venky’s work in 1 day=1/12
Ravi’s work in 1 day=1/15
Let the total work be done in x days
ATQ:-Rajiv work for 2 days
Venky work for (x-3)days
Ravi work for x days
Therefore part of work done by Rajiv in 2 days=2*(1/10)=2/10
part of work done by Venky in (x-3) days = (x-3)*(1/12)
part of work done by Ravi in x days =x/15
Total work must be 1
Therefore:-
2/10 + (x-3)/12 + x/15 =1
12+5x-15+4x=60
9x=63
X=7

- d. 7
2 day's work of Rajiv+Venky+Ravi= 2[(1/10)+(1/12)+(1/15)]=1/2
Remaining work=1/2
If work is completed in another 'x' days, then
Only Ravi will work for 'x' days & Venky for (x-3) days and completes 1/2 work
So, (x/15)+(x-3)(1/12)= 1/2
On solving, x=5
So work is completed in total 2+x= 2+5= 7 days - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(14) No(4)
- Let the work be 60 units.
Now Capacities of Rajiv is 60/10 = 6, Venky is 5, Ravi is 4 unit per day.
In two days work completed= (6 + 5 + 4) 2
Remaining work=30 units.
Now Ravi works for last three days and he completed =4unit/day*3day=12unit of work.
Remaining work=18unit.
Now In between x days, ravi and venky do this amt of work,
so 4unit/day*xday+5unit/day*xday=18unit
4x+5x=18,
9x=18
x=2.
So total days to complete the work is 2 days +xdays+3days=2+2+3=7days.

- there are 60 units of work(lcm of 12,15,10)
but in two days units of work completed=30 (6*2+5*2+4*2)
work left is=30 units
let x be no days done by ravi be x
4*x+5(x-3)=30
x=5
total no of days needed to complete the work=5+2=7days
ans 7 days

- answer-9. let the total work be 60w. so speed of rajiv is 6w per day n speed of venky is 5w per day and of ravi is 4w per day. so in two days they can do 30w. left work is 30w. speed is 9w per day now so it will require atleast 4 days for venky n ravi to finish it. now venky leaves it 3 days before the work is completed. so venky can do work on one more day. that makes it 21 w left. which can be completed in 6 days by ravi. so total 9 days.

- to find one day work take l.c.m of days 10,12,15,. lcm is 60. hence one day work is 6,5,4 resp.
they all togethr worked for 2 days hence 30 units are completed within 2 days. left is 30 units.supposed to b completed by ravi and veenky. they work for 9 units per day.nearly 4 days to b required. but veenky left before 3 days of completion. 4-3=1. means only for one day they worked together ie. 9 units now 39 units are completed in 3 days . left 21 units .
which is to b done by ravi in nearly 4 days.

- Rajiv=10/60=6
Vanky=12/60=5
Ravi=15/60=4
LCM(10,20,15)=60
Pahle 2 din 3 no kam karege
15*2=30
Aakhiri k 3 din sirf ravi kam karega 4*3=12
Remaining work 60-30-12= 18
Jo ki venky or ravi ko karna h 9*2=18
Total days =2+2+3 - 5 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- 7 days because after considering the condition it requires Ravi to complete the job in 2 days

- Let rajiv one day work is 1/10, veky's one day work is 1/12, ravi's one day work is 1/15
venky's 3 day work=3*1/12=1/4
rajiv's 2 day work =2*1/10=1/5
ravi's 3 day work=3*1/15=1/5
then 1/4[venky's 3 day work]+1/5[rajiv's 2 day work]+1/5[ravi's 3 day work]+x/15[remaining work done by ravi]=1
x=21/4````5.25``6
it took approximately 6 days to complete the work - 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
