Four people each roll a four die once. Find the probability that at least two people will roll the same number ?

- probability when die rolled 1st time=6C1 i.e. (1,2,3,4,5,6)
suppose 1 comes, then 2nd time it should not be .as it is given that no 2 people will roll same number.
so 2nd time probability=5C1 i.e. (2,3,4,5,6)
same way 3rd and 4th time probability=4C1 and 3C1 respectively.
probability that no one rolls the same no. = 6*5*4*3
and total possibility =6^4
p(same number)= 6*5*4*3/ 6^4
= 5/18
p(no same number will roll)=1-5/18

- The number of ways of rolling a dice where no two numbers probability that no one rolls the same number = 6 x 5 x 4 x 3
Now total possibilities of rolling a dice = 6^4
The probability that a no one gets the same number = 6×5×4×3/6^4=5/18
So the probability that at least two people gets same number = 1−5/18=13/18 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(19) No(4)

- The number of ways of rolling a dice where no two numbers probability that no one rolls the same number = 6 x 5 x 4 x 3
Now total possibilities of rolling a dice = 64
The probability that a no one gets the same number = 6×5×4×364=5/18
So the probability that at least two people gets same number = 1−5/18=13/18 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(6) No(5)
- The first person rolls a die, and gets a number.
The second person has a 5/6 chance of rolling a different number.
The third person has a 4/6 chance of rolling a number different from those two.
The fourth person has a 3/6 chance of rolling a number different from all three.
The odds that no two will roll the same number is 5/6*4/6*3/6 = 5/18 = .
That's the odds that no two will roll the same number, so the odds that two (or more) of them will roll the same number is 1-5/18 = 13/18 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(6) No(0)

- Since it is a 4 die, the probability of getting a no. is 1/4
The probability that no one rolls the same no. = 1/4 x 1/3 x 1/2 x 1/1
The probability that at least two people roll the same no. = 1 - (1/24) = 23/24 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(3)

- Let's first find the probability that all the people get different numbers.
First person throws the die and get a number.
Second person should get a different number. For this, probability
=
5
6
because one number is already used by the first person
Third person should get a different number. For this, probability
=

because two numbers are already used by the the first two persons
Fourth person should get a different number. For this, probability
=
3

because three numbers are already used by the first three persons

- Answer: 5/18
Explanation: It can be thought of as (1 - probability that all the four will roll different numbers)
1 - 6x5x4x3/6^4 = 13/18 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(1)

- @ Lakshmi Bhavani total no of ways of rolling the dice is 6*6*6*6 and not 64 m i correct so probability of no two getting the same no is =(6*5*4*3)/(6*6*6*6)=10/36
and required probability is 1-(10/36)

- P=1/6 q=5/6
Same at least 2=(1/6)^2*(5/6)^2+(1/6)^3*(5/6)+(1/6)^4=31/1296 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
- total no ways of throwing dice four times=6^4.
if no one get the same number then=6*5*4*3
subtract this from 6^4.(sadhaura zindabad) - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
