  then area of walkway is (60+2x)(20+2x)-(60x20)=510
  -->4x2+160x-516=0
  roots will be 3 and -43
  since it cannot be negative so answer will be 3

  (60-x)*(20-x)=684
  =>x=3 or 43

  when we solve this, we get X=3 which is the right answer.

  total area=1200
  area excluding width=(60-x)(20-x)
  given,
  (60-x)(20-x)-1200=516
  x^2-40x-129=0
  x^2-43x+3x-129=0
  (x-43)(x+3)=0
  so,x=43,-3
  thickness should be positive.
  hence,x=43 Ans
