- in this question drawing the diagram correctly and precisely will get u to the answer easily.
make 2 poles AB and at some distance from the foot of AB make CD name them AB=2m. and CD =8m
then, the next step will be,,
joining the foot of both the towers.
now join AD and BC,and name the point of intersection of these lines as E .
now draw a perpendicular from E to line BD.and name that point F and say EF=x
now F divides both BD in two parts let it be P and Q ,,i.e BF =p and FD = Q.
now observe triangle ABD& EFD,they are similar hence x/Q=2/P+Q
x= 2Q/P+Q......(1)
now observe triangle CBD and EBF,they are also similar hence x/P=8/P+Q
x=8P/P+Q......(2)
now equate (1) and (2)
we will get Q=4P now put Q=4p in equation (1)
i.e x/4P=2/5p
x= 8P/5P
x=1.6
hence drawing diagram makes ur approach quite easier!!

- formula is...(p*q)/p+q
here p=2,q=8
height in meters=(8*2)/8+2=16/10=1.6(option b is correct) - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(13) No(2)
