IF(3x+5y) : (5x+2y) = 11:12, find x:y

• divide numerator and dinominator by y in the left hand side
  
  (3(x/y)+5) / (5(x/y)+2) = 11/12
  let x/y = p
  (3p+5)/(5p+2) = 11/12
  => p = 2
  so x:y = 2:1
