A & B are participating in a swimming race of 1000 meter. Both of them start simultaneously at one end of a swimming pool whose length is 50 meter. A beats B in the race and meets him 17 times during the course. If A’s speed is 5 meter per second the speed of B could be?? (rounded off to nearest whole number)
Read Solution (Total 2)
-
- ans is speed of b is 3.50
1000/50=20 so there are 20 rounds in swimming
20/17=1.1764
so for every 1.1764 rounds or 1.1764*50=58.82 meters A meets B
that means A takes 58.82/5=11.76 sec
in this 11.76 seconds B swimms 50-(58.82-50)=41.18 meters
so speed of B is 41.18/11.76=3.50 meters per sec - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- A covers 1000 mt with the speed of 5m/s.
Given pool is of 50mt so A covers the total distance in 20 laps.
during the time he meets B for 17 times, i,e ones for initially at the start
and then in rase in diffrent 16 laps.
so for the same time B covers 16 laps i,e 16*50=800mt.
therefore 1000/5=800/s(speed of B).
therefore Speed of B=4m/s - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
