A and B start from house at 10am. They travel on the MG road at 20kmph and 40 kmph. there is a Junction T on their path. A turns left at T junction at 12:00 noon, B reaches T earlier, and turns right. Both of them continue to travel till 2pm. What is the distance between A and B at 2 pm

  B will travel this 40 km in 40/40=1 hr i.e. by 11am.
  after T junction for A- distance travelled =2*20=40 km
  for b distance travelled =40*3=120
  so distance between A & B is=120+40=160km

  A reached to junction in 2 hr.(12:00 noon) it means total distance is 40km upto T. and it means B travels that 40 km in 1 hr . again they both have to travel 2hr . So total distance travell by A in 2hr . from junction in 40km , and total distance travell by B in 2hr is 80 km ,but B is 40 km fast (20(A)+20(A)+40(B)+40(B)+40(B)) = 160

  At 12:00 noon B reaches earlier at T because speed of B is double than A.
  so B reaches at 11:00 AM after that he turns right, since it has given that he has to continue till 2:00 noon. At that time B covers a distance 120km while A covers 40 km after junction T on left side.

  In 3 hrs B will travel 40*3=120km

• when A reached to junction T. time is=10am to 12 noon= 2 h,
  distance = 2*20=40
  so B reached early because speed is 40kmph, so B time =40/40=1 h.
  A time = 12 nooon to 2 pm= 2 h.Similarly,
  B time=11 to 2 pm=3h
  Total distance between A to B is=(2*20)+(3*40)
  =40+120
  =160= Ans.
