total egg sold by shopkeeper
if third day there he sold all eggs
a) each day he sold half of total eggs + 1/2 an egg
b) no one purchase half an egg
Read Solution (Total 14)
-
- if x be total no. of eggs
then on 1st day eggs sold x/2+1/2, remaining x/2-1/2
on 2nd day eggs sold = 1/2(x/2-1/2)+1/2 = x/4 + 1/4, remaining x/4 - 3/4
on third day eggs sold = 1/2(x/4-3/4) + 1/2 = x/8 + 1/8
x/2+1/2+x/4+1/4+x/8+1/8=x
thus x=7
first day 3.5 + .5=4
second day 1.5 + .5 =2
thirsd day .5 + .5= 1

- @durgesh kumar
bro it is possible using 1st statement only
third day he sold half the eggs + half an egg and all eggs finished
that is possible only if last day he have only one egg
half of eggs + half an egg=0.5+0.5=1 egg
mean 2nd last day he sold =1.5+.5=2 eggs (since last day he had
half less than half egg mean he has 3 eggs )
now 1st day he sold =3.5+.5 =4 eggs (since last day he had
half less than half egg ,and 2nd day he has total 3 eggs , mean he has 7 eggs in third day )
so total number of eggs =7

- LET eggs = x;
day sold remaining
1 x/2+1/2 x/2-1/2
2 ( x/2-1/2)/2+1/2 ( x/2-1/2)/2-1/2
3 ( ( x/2-1/2)/2-1/2 )/2+1/2 o
on 3rd day total sold egg=1;
then ( ( x/2-1/2)/2-1/2 )/2+1/2 =1;
x=7; - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(3)

- let there be x eggs at the start.
first day: x/2+1/2=(x+1)/2
second day: (1/2*(x+1)/2)+1/2=x/4+1/2=(x+3)/4
third day: (1/2(x+3)/4)+1/2=(x+3)/8+1/2=(x+7)/8
x=(x+1)/2+(x+3)/4+(x+7)/8=(7x+17)/8
therefore: x=17 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(2)
