In some quantity of ghee.60% is pure ghee and 40% is vanaspati. If 10kg of pure ghee is added, then the strength of vanaspati ghee becomes 20%.The original quantity was????
Read Solution (Total 5)
-
- let initially the quantity was X kg.
after adding 10 kg of pure ghee it becomes (X+10) kg.
now after adding pure ghee the total content of vanaspati remains constant.
so, (x+10)*(20/100)=X*40/100
x= 10 kg. (ans) - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(15) No(0)
- Initially, G:V=3:2
After adding 10 Kg of Pure Ghee, G:V=4:1
To maintain the proportion of V,we write the above ratio as 8:2
So,3:2 & 8:2
Therefore,Change of G=(8-3)=5
Now apply Unitary Method,
For 5 Change is 10 Kg
So,for (3+2)=5 Change is (10/5)*5=10
Ans. Original Qty was 10 Kg. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(1)
- Simply 10kg.
(taking X )
another way -
40% reduced to 20%. so 1/2 reduced.
so total amount = 10/(1/2) = 20
added amount = 10kg
so previous amount = 20-10 = 10Kg.

- let the total b 100..
then pure=60 , vanaspati=40
10kg added so.. vanaspati becomes 50
20%(50)=20/100*(50)=10
so 10 is the answer - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
