9 years ago I was five times as old as my eldest son. Today I am 3 times his age. How old am I now?
Read Solution (Total 6)
-
- x-9=5(y-9)
& x=3y
x-9=5x/3-45
x=54
- 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(26) No(0)
- Let the present age of person is x and his eldest son is y.
So, x=3y
9 year ago
x-9=5(y-9)
using this we get x=54 yr. ANS - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(0)
- Let 9 yr ago the age of son is X
Then according to question age of father is 5X
Then after 9 yr age is son is 9+X ,
age of father is 5X+9 ,
Now according to question 5X+9= 3(9X+3)
By solving X=9
Then age offather is 3(9+X) = 54 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- Assume X is father
And y is son
So,
X-9=5(y-9).........1
Now,x=3y..........2
So replace 2 in 1
Then, 3y-9=5(y-9)
3y-9=5y-45
5y-3y=45-9
2y=36
y=36÷2=18
Now,x=y×3
X=18×3=54 - 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- present age of father =x &present age of son =y
9 yrs ago,
(x-9)=5*(y-9)
or,x-5y=-36 (1)
now,
x=3y (2)
on solving both eq we get x=54 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- x=5y
x+9=3(y+9)
=>x=45
present age is x+9=45+9=54 - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
