• I think the answer lies in "two sons and two fathers". There can be a grandfather, father and son.
  Grandfather and father becomes the two fathers for the son and the father respectively while the father and the son becomes the two sons for grandfather and father respectively. So, there are actually 3 persons (grandfather, father and son).
