The distance b/w 2 places is 1000 miles and a man has a camel which eats an apple/mile. He has 3000 apples and want to transport from one to another. Camel can take 1000 apples at a time. when reaching the destination how many apples will be with him?

  Wrong,
  camel can take only 1000 apples at a time, according to your answer it is taking 3000 at a time.

  after 1 mile it eats 1 apple
  after 2 miles it eats 2 apples
  .

  likes this after 999 miles it eats 999
  apples and reaches another mile as destination.
  so he left with 2001 apples.

  Explanation:
  Since the camel can take only 1000 apples at a time,it is not possible to reach destination(1000 miles) at one pass.so the optimal way to save more apples and reach destination is in 3 passes
  In 1st pass:
  camel starts with 1000 apples,reaches 250 miles(assume this point as A) and drops 500 apples there and returns back to start point.
  After completion of 1st pass,pt A has 500 apples.
  In 2nd pass:
  camel starts with 1000 apples,reaches 500 miles(point B) and drops 250 apples there and returns back to POINT A & takes the left over 250 apples at A during first pass and finally reaches start point.
  After completion of 2nd pass,pt A has has 250 apples & B has 250 apples.
  In 3rd pass:
  Camel starts with 1000 apples from start point,
  when it reaches pt A,250 apples are consumed,so it loads 250 apples at pt A & continues it journey till point B,now 250 are consumed so it loads 250 apples at pt B & continues it journey till destination.
  from B to destination -->500 are consumed out of 1000
  so finally after reaching the destination it has 1000-500=500 apples.

• if the camel consumes 1 apple/mile. Then he will consume 1000 apples for the 1000 miles.
  Hence 3000-1000=2000
  He will have 2000 apples at the destination.
