A man buys two cycles for 1200 each, he sells first cycle at a loss of 20% ,if he desires to get a profit of 15% on whole for how much should he sell his 2nd cycle?

• 1st cycle sold at a loss of 20%, so the Sp of 1st cycle= 1200*(1-20/100)=960
  Total CP for 2 cycles= 1200*2=2400
  Desired SP for 2 cycles= 2400*(1+15/100)=2760
  so, SP of 2nd cycle= 2760-960=1800

  Total CP for 2 cycles= 1200*2=2400

  for getting 15% total profit it must be sold at = 2400*1.15=2760
  one cycle has been sold at 20% loss
  means one cycle is sold at price-
  1200*0.80=960
  
  for selling both cycles at 2760 for getting 20% profit , second cycle price will be
  2760-960=1800
  
  it means second cycle must be sold at 1800.

  profit on whole=15*1200/100=180
  sp of second cycle=1200+240+180=1620

• A=1200, B=1200;
  A x 0.20 = 1200 x0.20 = Rs. 240 Loss in one cycle. Hence A is sold at 960.
  now to get 15% profit on whole
  2400x1.15 =2760
  => 2760-960 = Rs.1800 for second cycle to get 15% profit on whole.
