It cost a college Rs.0.70 a copy to produce a Programme for the homecoming football game. If Rs.15,000/- was received for advertisements in the programme, how many copies at Rs.0.50 a copy must be sold to make a profit of Rs.8000/- ?
Read Solution (Total 3)
-
- Each copy is being sold at a LOSS of Rs. 0.20 ( i.e. from 0.70 - 0.50). But still a profit of Rs. 8000 must be made. Now they got Rs15000 already in pocket and they need to make sure after producing all the copies they can still keep Rs 8000 in their pocket. If the number of copies sold is N, then
(Producing cost) + Profit = Total cost
(N * (0.70 - 0.50)) + 8000 = 15000
(N * 0.20) + 8000 = 15000
N * 0.20 = 15000 - 8000
N * 0.20 = 7000
N = 7000 / 0.20
N = 35000
Therefore you can sell 35000 copies to make a profit of Rs 8000. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(32) No(3)
- Copy is sold at loss =0.70-0.50=0.20
Even then a profit of 8000 is made.
Let N be no. of copies.
Therefore,
(N*0.2)+8000=15000
N*0.20=7000
N=35000
So 35000 copies sold - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(1)
- In this case its a loss as mentioned ,
we know that
CP of one copy is 0.70 and SP of one Copy is 0.50 therefore loss is 0.20
For N copies, loss will be 0.20*N
We know we have 15000 to invest so CP=15000
CP-SP=Loss
15000-0.2*N=8000
0.20*N=7000
N = 7000 / 0.20
N = 35000 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(2)
