A man ate 100 bananas in five days, each day eating 6 more than the previous day. How many bananas did he eat on the first day?
Read Solution (Total 7)
-
- X+(X+6)+(X+12)+(X+18)+(X+24)=100
TO SOLVE THIS X=8(FIRST DAY ATE) - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(25) No(1)
- intially 1st day=x
2nd day=6+x
3rd day=12+x
4th day=18+x
5th day=24+x
as per condition 5 days
5x+60=100
x=8 - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(9) No(1)
- n/2{2a+(n-1)d}..
by using this formula we get
5/2{2a+(5-1)6}=100
a=8 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(1)
- let x be the number of bananas he ate on first day
so,first day =x
second day=(x+6)
Third day=(x+6)+6
Fourth day=(x+6+6)+6
Fifth day=(x+6+6+6)+6
so adding above,we get,5x+60=100
x=8 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(1)
- this can be written as a A.P series. Sn(sum of the series) =100, n( no of element)=5, d(common difference)=6, a(1st element)
therefore, Sn= (n/2)*(2a+(n-1)d)
100=(5/2)*(2a+24)
100=5a+60
a=8 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- Guys ,,,right ans is
100 banana ---in---------5 days
let first day ate------ a
so,AP is---- a,a+6,a+12....100(last term)
so formula is--- last term=first term+(number of terms-1)*difference
100=a+(5-1)*6
a=76(solution) - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
