  S+L=8
  on solving S=3 L=5
  in 4 years S=3
  in 1 year S=3/4
  in 2 S=3/2

  in 2 year total growth is 4 fit
  Let the growth of one tree is X
  and another is X*3/5
  X+X*3/5 = 4
  x= 2.5
  another is 4 - 2.5 = 1.5
  So answer is 1.5 ft.
