Time Distance and Speed
A traveler walks a certain distance. Had he gone half a kilometer an hour faster , he would have walked it in 4/5 of the time, and had he gone half a Kilometer an hour slower, he would have walked 2 ½ hr longer. What is the distance?
Read Solution (Total 3)
-
- Ans:15km
solution:
speed(s)*time(t)=distance(d)
walked 1/2km with time 4/5
(s+0.5)((4/5)t)=d --->(1)
1/2km an hour slow, walked 2and half hr long
(s-0.5)(t+2.5)=d ----->(2)
solving (1) & (2)
we get s=2
t=7.5
d=2*7.5=15km - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(2)
- t - time
d - distance
s - speed
d/t=s
d/(4/5)t=s+1/2
d/(t+(5/2))=s-(1/2)
solve it....
u'll get
d=15... - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(1)
- Distance = speed x time
ST = (s + .5) x .8t ------------------- 1
ST=.8st +.4t, 2st=.4t, s= 2KM
ST= (s - .5) x (t+150) ------------------ 2
Substituting you will get the distance as 15 KMs - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(1)
