Time Distance and Speed
A ship went on a voyage. After it had traveled 180 miles a plane started with 10 times the speed of the ship.
Find the distance when they meet from starting point.

- Let's say the ship is traveling - M miles/hr. and plane took 'H' hours to meet the ship
Then, MH is the distance ship traveled after plane started
So we have, MH + 180 = 10MH
or 9MH = 180
or MH = 20
Hence distance ==> 180 + 20 = 200 miles - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(15) No(0)

Ans c) 200 miles.
Let the distance traveled by the ship after 180 miles to meet the plane be 'd'
Speed of the ship be 'x' and speed of the ship be '10x'
Time taken by plane to travel 180+d dist. = time take by ship for 'd' dist.
(180+d)/10x=d/x
180+d=10d
d=180/9=20.
So the distance traveled when they meet from starting point=180+d=200 miles - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(11) No(0)
