Supposing a clock takes 7 seconds to strike 7. How long will it take to strike 10?

• 10.5 seconds.
  The timer will start only at the first strike. So, the first strike really doesnot count. So, in striking 7, the 7 second interval is for the last 6 strikes. Since the strikes are spaced uniformly, it means each 3 strikes take 3.5 seconds.
  To strike 10, it needs 1+3+3+3(=10) strikes, which will require 0+3.5+3.5+3.5 = 10.5 seconds.

  for stricking 10 there are 9 interval and hence (7/6)*9 = 21/2
