Let the number of correct answers be x
then numbers of incorrect answers will be 75-x
We get 4x-(75-x)= 125
On solving the equation we x= 40

if he attempts 40 qnos correctly.. then 40*4=160 marks
remaining questions is 75-40=35 wrong questions
so 35 mark minus for 35 wrong questions... 160-35=125..so answer is 40 :)

I have same explanation but i just want to clarify why are we subtracting (75-x) by 4x. My equation was 4x + (75-x)= 125, which is wrong. Can anyone please explain ?
