A manufacturer undertakes to supply 2000 pieces of a particular component at Rs.25 per piece. According to his estimates, even if 5% fail to pass the quality tests, then he will make a profit of 25%. However, as it turned out, 50% of the components were rejected. What is the loss to the manufacturer?

• 2000*25=50000,5% failure means 100*25=2500, so he will have 47,500 which included the 25% profit , then his manufacturing cost is 47,500-9500=38,000.if 50% failures is there then he can make 25*1000=25000, then manufacturing cost 38000-25000=13000.

  profit on 1900 pieces is 25%.therefore,C.P is Rs.38000
  50% components were rejected,i.e 1000 pieces remaining.
  S.P of 1000 = 25*1000 =Rs.25000
  Loss =C.P-S.P
  38000-25000=Rs.13000 loss
