• both fail=15% only fail in sub1=20% and only fail in subject2=(42-15)%=27%
  so only pass in subject1=27% and only pass in subject2= 20% so (20+27)%=47% passed in either subject but not both

  student failed on both = 15
  
  
  assume no of candidate = 100
  
  paper 1 passed student = 100-35=>65
  
  paper 2 passed student = 100-42=58
  
  students failed in paper1 only=35-15=20
  
  students failed in paper2 only=42-15=27
  
  candidate failed both paper=20+27+15=62
  
  candidate Passed both paper=100-62=38
  
  candidate Passed in paper1 only = 65-38=27
  
  candidate Passed in paper2 only=58-38=20
  
  either passed in paper1 & 2 = 27+20 =47
  
  but actual student = 2500 in question
  
  so 2500 *47/100 =1175

  pass in another subject=35-15 % of 2500
