A can do a piece of work in 80 days. He works at it for 10 days & then B alone finishes the remaining work in 42 days. In how much time will A and B, working together, finish the work?

B's one day work is 70/80
7/8 of 42 days is 48 B worked for 48 days B's one day work is 1/48
total one day work is A+B = 1/80+1/48 = 8/240 = 1/30 means together they could have completed work in 30 days.

Assume Total work is 80 units.
So A's one day work is 1 unit.
He did work for 10 days.so he did 10 units.
Remaining 70 units completed in 42 days by B.so B's one day work 70/42
So A+B one day work 1+70/42=112/42
So to complete 80 units ,they take 80/(112/42)=30 days
