Time and Work
Walking 6/7th of his usual speed, a man is 12 minutes too late. The usual time taken by him to cover that distance is:
1. 2 hour
2. 1 hr 12 min.
3. 1 hr 15 min.
4. 45 min
Read Solution (Total 6)
-
- option 2 1 hour 12 minutes
As the distance is same
s*t=6/7s*(t+12)
t=72 min
1 hour 12 min - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(22) No(8)
- 6/7 of s
so 7/6 of time we get.
then new time=7/6 t
usual time =t
then 7/6-t=12/60
(1/6)t=1/5
t=6/5hours
i.e 6/5*60=72 mins=1 hour 12 mins

- t is inversely prpotional to speed
t=7/6 1/6 bigger so
1/6*x=12
x=1hr 12 min - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(0)
- Justification:
New speed = (6/7) of usual speed.
New time = (7/6) of usual time.
Therefore (7/6 of usual time)- (usual time) = (1/5) hr.
=> (1/6 of usual time)= (1/5) hr
=> usual time = (6/5) hr
= 1 hr 12 min. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(1)
- Distance traveled is same in both the case . Let distance be D.
Now, let usual speed is x . so , 6/7 of usual speed is (6/7)x.
Now, it is given that when men walks 6/7th of his usual speed, he is 12 minutes too late . Which means difference between usual time taken to the time taken when he is walking (6/7) of his usual speed is 12.
We know that -
Distance/Speed=Time
Therefore,
(D/(6x/7))-(D/x)=12
Solving this we get-
D/x=72min. which is nothing but usual speed.
Now converting it into hour we get our answer which is 1hr 12min. - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
