A batsman scores 23 runs and increases his average from 15 to 16. find the runs to be made if he wants top inc the avg to 18 in the same match.
Read Solution (Total 6)
-
- 23 - 15 = 8
To raise the average by one (from 15 to 16), he scored 8 more than the existing average.
Therefore, to raise the average by three (from 15 to 18), he should score 8*3 = 24 more than the existing average. Thus he should score 15 + 24 = 39. - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(51) No(7)
- TOtal run scored=x,
total match played=y,
then x/y=15...........(1)
(x+23)/(y+1)=16....(2).then after solve 1 & 2 ,We got x=105 & y=7.
Let us assume run scored to achive 18 avg. is A
then,(105+A)/8=18
=>A=39. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(34) No(1)
- 23 - 15 = 8
To raise the average by one (from 15 to 16), he scored 8 more than the existing average.
Therefore, to raise the average by three (from 15 to 18), he should score 8*3 = 24 more than the existing average. Thus he should score 23 + 24 = 47. - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(6)
- i have one doubt. he scored 23 so to make average as 16 he can keep 16 runs for this particular inning then, 23-16= 9 is the remaining runs now 9 runs can be given to 9 innings thus the number of innings are 9 now we have to make average as 18 so 3*9+18 so ans would be 45 can someone clear this doubt........... ??????
