- In 20 min, the cyclist travels 4 miles. The train crossed him at a distance of 5 miles from station. After the train had reached the station, the cyclist should be 4 miles away (20 min late). So for 1 mile of cyclist, train travels 5 miles. Train is 5 times fast. So ans is 60mph

- The other day cyclist was late by 20 mint.
To cover a dist. of 5miles (@12mph) he need 25 minutes.
At the meantime he meets the train (i.e before 5miles from their actual meeting point)
If he is by time , in another 5mnt (25mnt -20mnt late ) he would have met the train.
It implies that the train is running for 5 minutes (train speed being same)
5miles / 5mnts => 60mph. - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)

- In 20 min, the cyclist travels 4 miles.
Train crossed him 5 miles from station.
If he starts as usual he and train will meet station.
So, In 20 min train reaches station.
train is 5 miles from station.
so train velocity =5miles/(20 min)
converting into mph it is
15 mph - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(3)
