There are two glasses A and B. A contains orange juice and B contains apple juice in same quantity.Some amount orange juice from glass A is transfered to glass B. The juice in glass B is mixed well. Then again the same amount of juice from B is transferred to A. Compare the quantities of apple juice in A and orange juice in B.

- 1. A B
2. x x
3. x-a x+a
4. x+a x-a
5. x x
same quantity as previous - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(4)
- suppose
A glass=X(orange juice)
Y glass=X(apple juice).
lets y ammount of orange juice is transfered from A to B.Now
A=X-y(orange guice)
so the ratio of og and ag in B is=X/X+y:y/X+y
B=(X+y){X/(X+y)}ag +(X+y){y/(X+y)}og=Xy(mix g).
after that y ammount of mix juice is transfered from B TO A. then
A={(X-y)+y(y/X+y)}og+y(X/X+y)ag=(X^2/x+y)og+(Xy/X+y)ag.=X(X+y)/(X+y)=X
B=[X-y*{X/(X+y)}]ag+[y-y*{y/(X+y)}]og={X-Xy/X+y}+{y-y^2/(X+y)}=X
so ammount of og in A=X^2/X+y
ammount Of ag in B=X-XY/X+y=X^2/X+y
A og=B ag(equal)
