There are 20 balls of green color,20 balls of red color,20 balls of blue color,20 of balck,20 of yellow. how many u have to pick to guarantee 2pairs of same color?
Read Solution (Total 15)

- 6 balls have to pick to guarantee 2pairs of same color.
Here we have five different colours.(Red, Green, Black, Blue and Yellow)
Consider If we pick 1st ball as red. After that, there may be a chance to pick FOUR different colours of ball.
But, if we pick the 6th ball, it must be match any one of the colour ball.
So for guarntee the same pair of colur balls, we pick 6 balls. - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(35) No(19)
- 8 balls.
In worst case, first 5 balls are of all 5 different colours.
6 th ball will match one of the colours to make a pair.
then ( in worst case) next 4 balls can make pairs with other 4 colours. .. total 10 balls so far.
next 6 balls will make sure than one more pair is formed which will result in 2 pairs of same colour.
so total 16 balls out of 100 balls of 5 colours will guarantee 2pairs of same color. - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(17) No(21)

- ans:- 6
considering the worst case scenario.... getting all 5 different colour balls in d initial..... and after dat as u pick the 6th ball, den colour must repeat.. - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(8) No(13)
- Clearly the answer is 25 balls, unless I'm missing something obvious.
In the worst case scenario you draw out 20 balls, all of the same color! You have 1 pair of the same color, but that's all.
At that point you still need another pair. You draw out four more balls, but alas, they are all different colors!
Finally, you draw one more ball. You now are guaranteed to have 2 pairs. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(3)
- 7 bcz its asking for 2pares of same color.

- the question asks for "2pairs of same color"
that means 4 balls from any particular color
so for 1st first ball from any color we have 5 possibility--- 5
nxt for 2nd ball from same color we have 5 possibility ---- +5
for 3rd ball from same color agn 5 possibility ---- +5
n for 4th ball from any color we have possibility ---- +1
so total = (5+5+5+1) = 16
ans--- 16

- 25
see if you are considering worst case then stick with that
now considering worst case,
first 5 balls are of all 5 different colours.
6 th ball will match one of the colours to make a pair.
so after that again the worst case will be -> All balls picked which is matching to the pair one so total ball left=18
now 6+18=24
hence when u will pick 25th ball u will sure get a 2 pairs - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(1)
- in worst case if u pick 5 balls of different color.and then pick another 5 balls to make the pair in worst case.and then pick another pick another 5 balls to make it 3 colors same.now in worst case all the 15 balls u selected is make 3 same color balls of 5 different colors.now if u pick any ball it makes 2 pairs of same color
answer is 16 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(1)
- 16 is right one... in worst scenario 3 balls from all five different colors are drawn..
means 3*5= 15 balls.. after that we will take out 1 ball that will facilitate 2 pairs of same color(means 4 balls of same color)
so guarantee 2 pairs of same color=15+1=16 balls :) - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- answer would be 6
because their are 6 colors of balls available in the question. - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(32)

- i think answer is 25
because we need 2 make 2 pairs of same colour. if we pick 6th ball it'll make the pair.. but may be in all next attemps we get again the same ball as of 6th position - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(2)
- Those who Ans 6
Read Question carefully here Ques. tells 2 pairs of same color it means 4 balls of same color....then how it would be guarantee that only in 6 balls.
If the Ques would be 1 pair then 6 will be correct.
Otherwise Ans is 16 balls in worst case for guarantee.
