If m and n are whole numbers such that mn = 121, the value of (m - 1)n + 1 is:
A. 1 B. 10
C. 121 D. 1000

- Pls check
case i) (m-1)n + 1 = (11-1)11+1 = 121
I think
(m-1)n + 1 = (11-1)11+1 will be equal to 111.
One more case can be there.
when m=1, n=121, then
(m - 1)n + 1 = (1-1)*121 +1 = 0+1 =1
when m=121, n=1,then
(m-1)n+1 = (121-1)(1)+1 = 121
so two possible answers. 1 and 121

- mn = 121 and m and n are both whole number, which means m and can be any integer >= 0
Now this results in three cases
1. m = 11 and n = 11
then, (m-1)n+1 = (11-1)*11 + 1 = 111
not in optipns
2. m = 1 and n = 121
then, (m-1)*n + 1 = (1-1)*121 + 1 = 1
i.e. option A
3. m = 121 and n = 1
then, (m-1)*n + 1 = (121-1)*1 + 1 = 121
i.e. option C
Hence answer is A and C both

- Correct answer is (c) i.e. 121
because if mn = 121
m=121,n=1
or
m = 11, n = 11
case i) (m-1)n + 1 = (11-1)11+1 = 121
case ii) (m-1)n+1 = (121-1)(1)+1 = 121
m=11

- mn=121 121 can be obtained by multiplying 121*1
m=121,n=1
(m-1)n+1=121
if we choose m=1 and n=121
then the answer will be 1
so there r two possible answers 1 and 121 - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(1)
- actual question is m^n=121,the value of (m-1)^n+1
11^2=121
(11-1)^2+1=10^3=1000

- Ans. C. 121
mn = 121
As m and n are whole numbers so m and n can have values from
0,1,2,3,4,......................
So mn = 121 =>
m=11 and n=11
or
m = 121 and n = 1
When So m=11 and n=11
(m-1)n + 1 = (11-1)11+1 = 121
When m = 121 and n = 1
(m-1)n+1 = (121-1)(1)+1 = 121

- Correct answer is (A)
Solution: given that mn=121,
n=121/m;
so,
(m-1)121/m + 1
= 122-121/m
Since m is a whole num
So,assuming the lowest possible value i.e. 1,
122-121=1 ,which is the ans. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- given mn=121.so m!=11 and n!=11 (m!=n).
so m=121 and n=1 or n=121 and m=1.
so ans is 121. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(2)
- guys first of all it is m^n hence it is 11^2 and therefore m=11 and n=2 so it is 1000

- Hello !
M=1 and N=121 also possible.If m=1 and n=121 ,ans =1 - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- as mn=121
(m-1)n+1= mn-n+1=121-n+1= 122-n, but n=121/m => 122-121/m=122m-121 => m=1 and n=121
=> (m-1)n+1 = (1-1)121+1=0*121+1=1
Solution is: A. 1 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- the question is:-
If m and n are whole numbers such that m^n = 121, the value of (m - 1)^n + 1 is:-
and the answer is:-
D. 1000
as m=11 and n=2 so,
(11-1)^(2+1)=10^3=1000 - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
