Couple decided to travel a north country side .so they decide to travel a minimum amount on car the first day and the second and sbsequent day a distance of 20 miles .If they travel a total amount of 1080 miles.Find
he distance travlled on the 4th day and the 9 day.

• i got the solution on net but not sure whether it is true.
  
  Given the couple travels each day a minimum of 20 miles per day. So it may taken as a series of 20,40,60,80.... for each day they travelled. Add 20 miles each day and u get the series. As u can see it is in Arithmetic Progression. The formula is a+(n-1)d. where a is the first term, n is the nth term or the term which u need and d is the common difference.
  
  Now they asked distance travelled on 4th day. So 20+(4-1)20 = 20+60=80miles ,
  as d= 20,a=20,n=4
  
  And for 9th day 20+(9-1)20 = 20+8*20 = 180 miles.
