It cost a college Rs.0.70 a copy to produce a Programmed for the homecoming football game. If Rs.15,000/- was received for advertisements in the programme, how many copies at Rs.0.50 a copy must be sold to make a profit of Rs.8000/- ?
Read Solution (Total 8)
-
- Let the no. of copies be x.
We know Profit = Selling Price - Cost Price.
Here s.p = Rs. 0.5*x
c.p = Rs. 0.7*x-15000
profit = Rs. 8000
Therefore, 8000 = 0.5x - (0.7x - 15000)
x = 35000 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(104) No(7)
- 35000!!!
8000=0.5x-(0.7x-15000) - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(19) No(14)
- ans:35000
total profit is 8000,(15000-8000=7000)
loss=0.5-0.7=-0.2
7000/0.2 =35000 print copys - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(18) No(1)
- we have to get 7000 loss.........for every 5copies,1rupee loss..so 35000copies have to be sold

- 14000
for advertisements 15000
total profit must be 8000
therefore 15000-8000=7000
they have to sold x no. of copies for Rs 7000
one copy=.50
x*copy=7000
x=7000/copy
x=7000/.5
x=14000 no of copies - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(7) No(36)
- Copy is sold at loss =0.70-0.50=0.20
Even then a profit of 8000 is made.
Let N be no. of copies.
Therefore,
(N*0.2)+8000=15000
N*0.20=7000
N=35000
So 35000 copies sold - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(1)
- 0.70*X+8000=0.50*x+15000
=35000

- for 0.70 there cost rs.15000
if it is sold for 0.50 then what is the selling price to gain the profit of 8000??
so 0.50x-0.70*15000=8000
x=18500 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
