Age Problem
the difference bw the ages of a and c is half the age of b. the diff bw the ages of a and b is one-sixth of the age of c. if the sum of the ages of b and c is 32, find the age of a
Read Solution (Total 3)
-
- 22 years
A- C= B/2 ---(i)
A- B= C/6 ---(ii)
B+ C=32 ---(iii)
(i) - (ii), gives 3B- 5C =0 ---(iv)
From (iii) & (iv), B=20, C=12, So A=22 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(1)
- a-c=1/6*b
a-b=1/6*c
b+c=32
a=22,b=20,c=12 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(2)
- A= 22
Solving
a -c =1/2 b .....1st
a - 1/6 c = b .....2nd
Negating 1st and 2nd, 5c =3b.
using c=3/5 b in equation b+c=32 we get c= 12 b=20
Putting this value in 1st we get a= 22. - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(1)
