  (18*18-1)= Sum of the first 17 innings Score

  Ave upto 17 innings = 323/17=19

  initially avg is 18 i.e X/18=18
  so X=324.. he got it after scoring 1 run.. so till 17 innings 323

  First we take first sentence ...so normally he scored some runs up to 17 innings and in 18 innings he scored 18 runs which means
  
  x + 18
  --------- = 18
  18
  
  so the above equation goes like this...his total average 18(given) and totally 18 innings(given) and x is the total runs in 17 innings + 18 innings runs which is 18.
  
  solving that you get x=306 ( which is , In 17 innings total runs scored by the batsman)
