Given a rectangular (cuboidal for the puritans) cake with a rectangular piece removed (any size or orientation), how would you cut the remainder of the cake into two equal halves with one straight cut of a knife ?

• suppose if the cake is cut at the left top corner then drawing a diagonal line from right bottom corner till the end will make the remaining portions equal

• Make a cut at an angle such that it passes through the center of the cake and from the center of the hollow rectangle which has been removed already. The cut must pass through both the rectangles so that the two pieces have equal area.
