A grandfather clock was set right at 6:30 am. This old clock loses 2 minutes and 30seconds every 52 minutes. What is the correct time when the clock shows 12.15 am
Read Solution (Total 6)
-
- Ans :--> 01:06:01(hour:min:sec) Am ( in the morning)
Explanation==>
total minutes between 6:30 Am to 12:15 Am is 1065 minutes
Now number of times 52 min repeated in 1065 ==> 1065/52 ==> 20.480 times (approx).
Given that every on 52 min clock looses 2min and 30 sec (2.5 min approx);
So for 20.480 times clock will loose ==> 20.480 * 2.5 ==> 51.2 min
Now time is 12:15 Am , So add 51.2 min from it we will get 01:06:01 (hour:min:sec)Am

- total no, of min between 6.30 to 12.15=1125min
it says the clock r lagging after 52 min therefore no.of times it lagging=1125/52=21.63 now at one time it lags 2.5 min therefore total time it is lagging=2.5*21.63=>54.086
ans=12.15am +54.086 min=>1.09 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
