If 50% of (a - b) is= 30% of (a + b), then what percentage of x is y?

• b is 25% of a.

• Ans. 400%, it seems x & y have been wrongly written in place of a & b.
  
  Solution:
  50% of (a - b) is= 30% of (a + b)
  => .5a-.5b = .3a+.3b
  => .2a = .8b
  => a = 4b
  which means a is 400% of b

• 50/100(a-b)=30/100(a+b)
  10a-10b=6a+6b
  so 4a=16b
  a/b=16/4
  a=4 b=1 so a is 400 percent of b

  Mr. rakesh has given answer as 400% and you have accepted it right.
  
  But you yourself gave answer as 25%.
