A shopkeeper sells milk which contains 5% water. What quantity of pure milk should be added to 2 liters of milk (containing 5% water) so that proportion of water becomes 4%?
Read Solution (Total 5)
-
- 0.5 ltr
In 2 ltr mixture of milk containing 5% water, quantity of water is 2*5/100= 0.1 ltr.
Now this 0.1 ltr of water is 4% of a mixture of 0.1*100/4 = 2.5 ltr.
so 2.5-2.0 = 0.5 ltr of pure milk is to be added to 2 liters of milk (containing 5% water) so that proportion of water becomes 4%. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(29) No(4)
- Present proportion of milk and water(in 2 litres of milk) is : 1900:100( in ml)
Now, let the milk should be added x ml
So, the new ratios is (1900+x):100
Hence, the equation becomes 100/(2000+x)=4/100
x comes to 500ml
Therefore, 500 ml of milk should be added so that the proportion of water become s 4% - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(13) No(3)
- using formula, required quantity of pure milk
=
Initial total Quantity (Initial concentration percentage - Final concentration percentage)
Final concentration percentage
=Initial total Quantity (Initial concentration percentage - Final concentration percentage)/Final concentration percentage
=2(5-4)/4= 0.5L - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- 5% in 2lt of milk is 0.1
0.1/(2+x)=4%
4x+8=10
x=0.5
so,ans is 0.5 ..:)simple - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- 5%*(2000ml) =4%(2000ml+x)
0.05(2000ml)=0.04(2000+x)
solve this u will get answer 500ml - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(2)
