a farmer is telling his wife if we sell 75 chickens the chicken food will last for 10 more days but if we buy 100 chickens as we say then the chicken food will last for 15 days less.how many chicken they have?
Read Solution (Total 5)
-
- Whatever number of chickens they decide to have, the product of "number of chickens" and "days the food will last" will be equal to the amount of food they have, which is a constant.
let c = no of chickens they currently have.
Let t = no of days that their food will last these c chickens.
So, amount of food they have = c*t chicken-days of food.
then
(c-75)*(t+10)=ct
ct + 10c - 75t +750 = ct
10c - 75t +750 = 0-------1
(c+100) * (t-15) = ct
ct - 15c + 100t -1500 = ct
-15c +100t -1500 = 0------2
by solving 2 we get c=300
and t=30

- I think statement should be
a farmer is telling his wife if we sell 75 chickens the chicken food will last for 20 more days but if we buy 100 chickens as we say then the chicken food will last for 15 days less.how many chicken they have?
then answer will be 300 chickens having food for 60 days.
In 1st case, 225 chickens will have same food for 80 days.
in 2nd case, 400 chickens will have same food for 45 days. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(7) No(2)
