what is the total distance travelled by the ball?

  thus an infinite gp is formed with
  
  (4+2+1+0.5+..)
  
  => 4/(1-1/2)=8
  so 2(sum)=2*8=16ft
  So the total distance travelled by the ball is=16+8=24ft
