- say present age of paul is 'Pa' and of peter is 'Pe'.
lets say peter was as old as paul is now x years before.
==>Pe-x=Pa....................(1)
then from given statement
Pe=2(Pa-x).............(2)
also sum of their ages is 35 ==> Pe+Pa=35 ............(3)
solving above 3 equations in 3 unknowns we get Pe=20 - 14 years agoHelpfull: Yes(28) No(2)
- let peter is now x and paul is y.
so, x+y=35
and x=2{y-(x-y)}
[think,ur age is 22(x) and ur brother is 19(y).now when ur age was 19 at that time ur brother age was {22(x)-19(y)}that is 3 less than 19;that is 19(y)-{22(x)-19(y)}]
solving two eq. x=20,y=15 - 14 years agoHelpfull: Yes(14) No(0)
- from the option if we take 20 as Peter's age then Paul's age is (35-20)=15...when Peter's age was 15,Paul's age was 10 and twice the value of 10 is 20 which is the present age of Peter.

- 20
p=peter
pa=paul
p=2(pa+x)
x=(pa-p) so x=pa-p
p=2(pa+pa-p) -> 4pa-2p
3p=4pa -> 4(35-p)
7p=140 so p=20 - 14 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(1)
- questiion need to be verified ..i think some lines are missing

- Let peter's age=x & paul's age=y
Given: x+y=35
Wen peter was as old as paul is now, i.e.
wen peter was y i.e.(x-y) yrs ago,
then paul was y-(x-y)=2y-x yrs old.
so, acc. to condition:
x=2* Paul's age x-y yrs ago,i.e.
x=2(2y-x)
x=4y-2x
x=4(35-x)-2x
x=140-6x
7x=140
x=20
i.e. Peter's age is 20 yrs old. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
