Maths Puzzle
A trader sells two steel chairs for Rs.500 each. On one, he claims to have made a profit of 25% and on the other, he says he has lost 20%. How much does he gain or lose in the total transaction.
Read Solution (Total 3)
-
- CP of first chair = 500/1.25 = Rs 400
CP of second chair = 500/0.8 = 5000/8 = Rs 625
Total cp = Rs 1025.
Total SP = 2*500= 1000
loss = 1025-1000 = Rs 25 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(0)
- He gains:
1st chair: S.P1= 125% of C.P
i.e, S.P1 = 125/100 * 500 = 625 Rs.
now,
2nd chair: S.P2 = 80% of C.P
i.e S.P2 = 80/100 * 500 = 400 Rs.
So, Finally S.P of 2 chair; S.P1 + S.P2 = 625+400 = 1025 Rs.
Therefore, Gain = 1025 - (500*2) = 25 Rs. ----- Ans - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
